MISSIOVEVOMissio - Three Thoughts on Finding Identity (Vevo Originals)
Inspiration can be fleeting and for MISSIO’s Matthew Brue, the more somber the source the better. “From an aesthetic standpoint people know me as darker personality and I don’t want to be a happy person,” he says. When Brue was under the influence of drugs, he saw through a prism that reflected an opaque outlook and mined that fog for songwriting material. As he joined forces with David Butler to form Missio, however, he become sober and worried if he would still be able to draw from his personal experiences while avoiding his past temptations. “Missio’s message isn’t sobriety,” Butler explains. “It’s don’t be alone.” It’s a concept the duo explore on their 2017 album, ‘Loner,’ and here in our “Three Thoughts...On Finding Your Identity,” powered by truth, Ad Council and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Brue admits staying clean is difficult, but offers universal advice to anyone facing a challenge: With support and a reminder that each day presents an opportunity you can find peace among chaos.
