Lakeland Community CollegeMany students earn the EMT-Basic certificate at Lakeland, then leave to earn a Fire Certification, known as FF2. For those who wish to pursue careers as a firefighter, area fire departments require paramedic certification. In fact, several are fire department chiefs sit on the program’s advisory committee. Once the FF2 certification is completed, students return to Lakeland to earn the paramedic certificate.
Other students who enter the EMT and paramedic programs do so while on the waiting list for other health programs.
Can start the program right out of high school
EMT-Basic is only one semester
EMT-Paramedic is only three semesters, or approximately one year (without prerequisites)
